Somatic Coach for Adventurous Athletes
Trauma Healing Specialist

"The effects of unresolved trauma can be devastating. It can affect our habits and outlook on life, leading to addictions and poor decision-making. It can take a toll on our family life and interpersonal relationships. It can trigger real physical pain, symptoms, and disease. And it can lead to a range of self-destructive behaviors."

“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence."

"I found that, if given appropriate guidance, human beings can and do shake off the effects of overwhelming events and return to their lives...”

"The paradox of trauma is that it has both the power to destroy and the power to transform and resurrect."

― Peter A. Levine

Developer of Somatic Experiencing®

I’m Julia Yanker - freedom facilitator and wild woman; a born contrarian and rebel (some have even called me an iconoclast), adventurologist, midwife of transformation, and lover of nature.

This love has led me on many an adventure, via many modes of travel. Being a young, horse-crazy girl led me to working with horses professionally (3-day eventing, ranching, and wrangling). As a young adult, my love for the wilderness and exploring all its nooks and crannies left my wallet empty, but my gear room full of gear for canyoneering, rock/ice climbing, skiing, whitewater boating, dirt biking, wild ice skating, camping, and backpacking.

All the while, another passion of mine filled dark evenings and rainy weekends: I endeavored to tame the monkey of my mind through mindfulness teachings, meditation, and psychological study. Eventually, this led me to the life's work of Dr. Peter Levine, who pioneered the highly effective method of trauma resolution called Somatic Experiencing. Trained in this technique, I now am honored to call this my life's work as well: helping people heal from the effects of traumatic experiences so they can be happy, healthy, and whole; living life untethered from the life-energy-sucking symptoms of trauma or stress injury.
